Your chance.
This is your chance to own the software layer that turns our hardware into Dæly. You'll build and shape the Android firmware running on a mass-produced consumer device, work directly with our manufacturers & chipset designers and lay the groundwork for future device generations. From boot to OTA updates to on-device AI: It's yours.
What you'll do.
- Manage the process with suppliers & ODMs, from samples to firmware sign-off
- Source, test and compare hardware samples (tablets, chips) and drive the evaluation end to end
- Own firmware testing and updates for our Android-based touchscreen device, incl. OTA rollouts, versioning and rollback
- Keep the device stable & secure in continuous kiosk/device-owner operation, incl. ongoing security and Android version updates
- Work directly with our ODM to fit firmware to chipsets, peripherals, sensors & production requirements
- Debug low-level Android issues across upgrades, system apps, permissions and recovery
- Drive news projects: chip benchmarking, sample comparison, ...
- Lay the groundwork for new chipsets and hardware capabilities (NPU / accelerators)
What we are looking for.
- Embedded systems background (Linux, Android/AOSP) with experience getting firmware onto real hardware
- Experience working directly with hardware manufacturers, ODMs & suppliers
- Process mindset: you care more about testing, sample evaluation & sourcing done right than about being the deepest low-level expert
- Solid understanding of AOSP & embedded Android, incl. build system, framework internals and Device Owner / kiosk provisioning
- Hands-on with OTA mechanisms, A/B partitions, recovery, versioning & rollback
- Basic understanding of bootloaders, firmware flashing and production image packaging
- Familiarity with embedded Android SoCs such as Rockchip or comparable chipsets
- Experience debugging devices in the field with ADB, logcat & bug reports
Nice to have.
- Experience shipping Android firmware on mass-produced kiosk or embedded devices
- Device Owner / kiosk-mode deployment experience
- A move from embedded towards sourcing or supply chain topics
- Understanding of on-device ML constraints across memory, compute & performance
- German Speaking, based in- or close to Vienna
